More Than
Eighty-Five Years
of Service.
From its beginnings in Roxbury to its continued presence in Mattapan, Davis Funeral Home has built its reputation around service, community and care.
A Legacy Rooted
in Community.
For over eighty-five years, our establishment has maintained an esteemed standing in the greater Boston area, recognized for delivering unparalleled service.
The late Norris G. Davis established the original business in 1935, launching his life's work from a modest commercial storefront at the intersection of Townsend Street and Humboldt Avenue in Roxbury.
The Beginning
Norris G. Davis established the original Davis Funeral Home in Roxbury, beginning a legacy of service to Boston families.
A New Home
Following broader changes within the funeral industry, the business moved into the Victorian property that continues to serve the Roxbury community.
Helen Young Davis
Following Norris Davis's passing, his wife, Helen Young Davis, assumed leadership and guided the enterprise for thirty-four years.
A New Generation
Rebecca Ridley began her career with the funeral home as an entry-level apprentice, eventually becoming a fully credentialed funeral director.
Continuing the Legacy
After years of working closely with Mrs. Davis, Rebecca Ridley formally acquired the establishment.
A Community Sanctuary
The Mattapan facility has served as a sanctuary for grieving families for more than fifty years. The property was originally established by the Boyko family to serve Boston's Ukrainian population.
Jesse Corbin
As the surrounding community changed, the facility adapted to serve a vibrant African American population. Jesse Corbin later owned the property and provided memorial services until his retirement in 2004.
